We decided we need one last summer fun trip so we went camping at Lost Lake. Needless to say everyone else had the same idea. We ended up finding a spot next to Andy and Lara Hoch (our neighbors). We set the tent up in the dark and didn't realize it was going to get so cold at night. The kids just had their little lightweight sleeping bags ...so they were freezing. We sat around the campfire and roasted hotdogs and had smores and got REALLY dirty. The kids loved it.
The lake was so beautiful in the morning when we woke up. We rode bikes, hiked, picked huckleberries, went on a fun 4-wheeler ride and played in the creek. Emma got tired while riding on the 4-wheeler, so she stuck her head in my jacket and fell asleep.Thursday, August 20, 2009

Taylor Swift Concert
Taiylor and I and our friends Lizzie and Jody Starr went to a Taylor Swift concert in Boise. When we bought the tickets I had no idea that the concert was on a Sunday. I told Taiylor about it and she was quite nervous about it being on a SundaY. The day of the concert came and we went to church and then came home and got ready to go. Taiylor started getting a headache and by the time our friends picked us up it was pretty bad. I gave her some tylenol hoping it would help. Our first stop was Olive Garden. That is one of Taiylor's favorite restaurants. As we were waiting for our food Taiylor said she didn't feel too well so she got up to go to the restroom and on the way she threw up everywhere. Poor girl was so embarrassed. I don't blame her. I think she was so nervous it made her sick. But, she ended up feeling a little better.
We got to the concert and it was really neat. I think the girls enjoyed themselves. But, I will remember next time, No Concerts on Sunday!

Mother's Day 2009
I had a wonderful Mother's Day. I have such great children. Trenton ran to my room first thing in the morning and asked me what my favorite "breaftust" was and then told me to stay in bed for a really long time. So, of course I had no problem doing that. The kids and Jared then served me breafast in bed: Pancakes with berries and whip cream (my favorite) and orange julius. Yummy.
The kids gave me all of their homemade gifts which I will treasure forever. They were so excited to give them to me and see my reaction. It made me feel very loved. Everyone was so good to me. A great day.
This is a picture of the bag Trenton had hid under his bed for about a week, and then my beautiful rose he taped to the bag.
We went to the cemetary with Jared's sisters and dad to visit his mom's headstone. IT was really nice to have everyone there. We all got a little emotional, but it was nice to honor her. She was a great lady.
May 10th was also Jared and I's 9th wedding anniversary. Wow! He sent me 3 pink roses to work on Friday which was so sweet of him. Totally unexpected. After I told Jared about Trent's experience with my roses. He clued me in as to why he did it. He told Jared, "wouldn't it be nice Dad if I could give mom a rose like you did. I think she would really like it." Jared told him that was a really good idea, not thinking he would go cut one of mine. What a sweet boy. He was just trying to make his mom happy.
I love being a mom. What a joy it is to have your kids love you so much. THey are so forgiving.

Roses
I am such a terrible, mean mother. The kids were being wild, crazy, screaming and fighting, so I made them go upstairs and put their pjs on. I went into Trent's room and saw one of my roses that Jared got me for our anniversary. Trenton had cut one of them right at the tip of the rose. I immediately got angry and yelled at him for doing it. He also had my blue painters tape that I had just bought. I shut his door and told him not to come out. I felt bad so I went back to his room. He had the saddest look on his face. I told him I was sorry and asked him if I made him feel bad. Then came the saddest nod. He was trying to tape the rose to my mother's day bag that he made at school. He wanted to give me the rose for mothers day. He has been trying to be nice to me for Mother's day and I just snapped. I need to be more patient and loving and realize he is only 5 years old. Let me be a better mother.

Valentines Day
My mom used to make big heart sugar cookies that we got to decorate when I was younger, so I decided to start a tradition with my kids and do the same thing. So these are the kids masterpieces.

A Mother's Instinct
Today was a very hard day for me. I took Emma LuJean in to the dentist I work for at 7:00 a.m. to get her lower frenulum clipped(area underneath the tongue). They put her on versed which was suppose to make her sleepy and not remember what is happening. She was kind of acting like she was drunk. The dr asked me to leave because he knew it was going to be hard for me to watch her struggling and being held down. So, I went out to my car and cleaned out my purse and tried to read a magazine but couldn't concentrate. All I could think about was how scared Emma was. Finally, they called me and said she was done. She was so happy to see me. I think she will be fine. She can stick her tongue out a little farther. It doesn't look very good right now, but I am hoping after a few days of healing, it will be what she needed. As a mother, we worry so much about our children. A lot of times mothers know just what their kids need and don't need. You don't ever want anything bad to happen to them. We took a long 3 hour nap and she woke up as happy as can be. You wouldn't have know what she went through early this morning. Emma is scheduled to go in for her first speech therapy session next Tuesday, so I am anxious to see how she does. I have to admit though I am going to miss her special little language. Below is a clip of her repeating scriptures and saying her prayers. She is so adorable when she says prayers. You usually can't understand a word but she is so proud of herself. (Don't look at all the dust on the bookshelf)
P.S. I am still trying to get my video to post.

Savers Chair
I got this chair from Savers (cool second hand store) for a whopping $6.00. It was really in fairly good condition. I forgot to take a before picture, but it had a tan canvas material on it. I bought the fabric for around $25, so the whole chair cost me about $30. That's what I'm talking about! I love finding deals like that. I really love finding furniture at 2nd hand stores and reburshing them. Jared and I recovered this chair in 2 nights, and I think we did a pretty good job for first time reupholsterers(sp). The best part of this chair is that it is a rocker. Love it.

New Fireplace
We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our new fireplace. I don't know how we ever got along without it. I should have listened to Jared in the first place and put it in from the beginning. We have definitely saved money on our heating bill. We keep the fire going all the time and it heats the whole house. My hubby did an awesome job on it. Thanks babe.

Update on Emma
So, I have taken Emma to her pediatrician, dentist, audiologist and we really couldn't pin point why she has been having speech problems. I ended up taking her to a pediatric ENT(ear, nose, throat) and she was awesome. Her ears look great, but right off she said she was tongue tied and needed to have her lower frenulum clipped. Finally. I thought that was the problem all along. I guess you have to follow your motherly instict. The nurses at the hospital when she was born thought she was tongue tied and I think she just learned to work around it. Anyway, she is having the procedure done this Thursday. I am really nervous for her. She is going to be on some medication to try and help her relax, but I know it is still going to be a fight. She is now going to have to try and learn all over again with her new tongue. I talked to the speech therapist today and her first session is next Tuesday. She will start going once a week and we will see how it goes. She is my little baby and I feel so bad for her. She also sucks her thumb and rubs her silky blanket while sucking. The pediatrician and speech therapist have told me that she needs to stop sucking her thumb to help with her progress. It is going to break her heart and mine, but I know it needs to happen. Today I emptied all the drawers of sippy cups, (I know I am a little late doing it) and Emma was so sad. I guess since she is my youngest baby I have babied her more. Anyway, we are on our way towards progress.

Very bad blogger
I can't believe I don't have any pictures from Christmas 2008. My camera broke and I went without for a few months. Jared got me a new camera for Christmas but I didn't even get it opened up and working for a few days after. So, I have been very bad about updating. I know I should have been journaling anyway but oh well. Heres to another new start. It seems like I can't seem to stay up to date on this blogging thing. Maybe we have a boring life.
Anyway, life has been good. My little miss Emma turned 3 January 26. I can't believe my youngest is three. Very weird. She is a sweetheart. She brings a lot of joy into our family. She was so excited about her birthday this year. I tried to make it special for her. I attempted making a fun cake for her. It turned out ok being the first one I have done.
Papa and Kristin, Tyler and Holli, Becky, Vance and Melissa and kids, Great Grandpa and Grandma Myers, Jamie and kids, and Jackie, Jeff and Lizette all came over to celebrate the special event.
