Valentines Day

My mom used to make big heart sugar cookies that we got to decorate when I was younger, so I decided to start a tradition with my kids and do the same thing. So these are the kids masterpieces.

A Mother's Instinct

Today was a very hard day for me. I took Emma LuJean in to the dentist I work for at 7:00 a.m. to get her lower frenulum clipped(area underneath the tongue). They put her on versed which was suppose to make her sleepy and not remember what is happening. She was kind of acting like she was drunk. The dr asked me to leave because he knew it was going to be hard for me to watch her struggling and being held down. So, I went out to my car and cleaned out my purse and tried to read a magazine but couldn't concentrate. All I could think about was how scared Emma was. Finally, they called me and said she was done. She was so happy to see me. I think she will be fine. She can stick her tongue out a little farther. It doesn't look very good right now, but I am hoping after a few days of healing, it will be what she needed. As a mother, we worry so much about our children. A lot of times mothers know just what their kids need and don't need. You don't ever want anything bad to happen to them. We took a long 3 hour nap and she woke up as happy as can be. You wouldn't have know what she went through early this morning. Emma is scheduled to go in for her first speech therapy session next Tuesday, so I am anxious to see how she does. I have to admit though I am going to miss her special little language. Below is a clip of her repeating scriptures and saying her prayers. She is so adorable when she says prayers. You usually can't understand a word but she is so proud of herself. (Don't look at all the dust on the bookshelf)
P.S. I am still trying to get my video to post.

Savers Chair

I got this chair from Savers (cool second hand store) for a whopping $6.00. It was really in fairly good condition. I forgot to take a before picture, but it had a tan canvas material on it. I bought the fabric for around $25, so the whole chair cost me about $30. That's what I'm talking about! I love finding deals like that. I really love finding furniture at 2nd hand stores and reburshing them. Jared and I recovered this chair in 2 nights, and I think we did a pretty good job for first time reupholsterers(sp). The best part of this chair is that it is a rocker. Love it.

New Fireplace

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our new fireplace. I don't know how we ever got along without it. I should have listened to Jared in the first place and put it in from the beginning. We have definitely saved money on our heating bill. We keep the fire going all the time and it heats the whole house. My hubby did an awesome job on it. Thanks babe.

Update on Emma

So, I have taken Emma to her pediatrician, dentist, audiologist and we really couldn't pin point why she has been having speech problems. I ended up taking her to a pediatric ENT(ear, nose, throat) and she was awesome. Her ears look great, but right off she said she was tongue tied and needed to have her lower frenulum clipped. Finally. I thought that was the problem all along. I guess you have to follow your motherly instict. The nurses at the hospital when she was born thought she was tongue tied and I think she just learned to work around it. Anyway, she is having the procedure done this Thursday. I am really nervous for her. She is going to be on some medication to try and help her relax, but I know it is still going to be a fight. She is now going to have to try and learn all over again with her new tongue. I talked to the speech therapist today and her first session is next Tuesday. She will start going once a week and we will see how it goes. She is my little baby and I feel so bad for her. She also sucks her thumb and rubs her silky blanket while sucking. The pediatrician and speech therapist have told me that she needs to stop sucking her thumb to help with her progress. It is going to break her heart and mine, but I know it needs to happen. Today I emptied all the drawers of sippy cups, (I know I am a little late doing it) and Emma was so sad. I guess since she is my youngest baby I have babied her more. Anyway, we are on our way towards progress.

Very bad blogger

I can't believe I don't have any pictures from Christmas 2008. My camera broke and I went without for a few months. Jared got me a new camera for Christmas but I didn't even get it opened up and working for a few days after. So, I have been very bad about updating. I know I should have been journaling anyway but oh well. Heres to another new start. It seems like I can't seem to stay up to date on this blogging thing. Maybe we have a boring life.

Anyway, life has been good. My little miss Emma turned 3 January 26. I can't believe my youngest is three. Very weird. She is a sweetheart. She brings a lot of joy into our family. She was so excited about her birthday this year. I tried to make it special for her. I attempted making a fun cake for her. It turned out ok being the first one I have done.

Papa and Kristin, Tyler and Holli, Becky, Vance and Melissa and kids, Great Grandpa and Grandma Myers, Jamie and kids, and Jackie, Jeff and Lizette all came over to celebrate the special event.
