Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving was hosted at our house this year. It was great fun. Spencer,Jamie and kids, Josh and Kalin, Aunt Abby, Aunt Jackie, Jeff and Lizette and our family were here. Jamie made a wonderful turkey and I made a ham. I Our friends do a fire pit every year the night before Thanksgiving and you can put in a ham or turkey. The ham turned out wonderful. It just fell off the bone. Yummy.<I attempted to make homemade rolls and as you can see they were a total flop. I needed my mom here to make her signature rolls.
Jamie made the AWESOME TURKEY. Jared finished our wood stove night before Thanksgiving so we had that going and the oven on, so needless to say it was very warm in our house. We had a great time visiting and playing games. Jamie brought the famous Thanksgiving bingo which was a hit. The kids had a lot of fun playing that.

We were very grateful to have so many of our family together for this special day.

The guys and Kalin went out to shoot guns while we waited for the final preparations for dinner. Spencer got a new gun, so everyone got to shoot it. Jared also got a new pistol that they all shot. Trenton and David had a good time.

Spencer and Josh jumped on the tramp with the kids which they absolutely LOVED. They are just big kids themselves that's why the little kids love them so much.

I am still working on adding more pics from Thanksgiving.

Great Grandpa and Emma

Great Grandpa was over and Emma climbed up on his lap with her "bebe" and cuddled. Way cute. She calls him nama because she gets confused with saying Grandpa. I think he kinda likes cuddling with her.

An update on Emma's doctors appointment. Her tongue is fine. The doctor wants to check her hearing and have her go to a speech therapist.

Monday!

I have had an interesting weekend and Monday. Actually I am very frustrated right now. I guess I have calmed down a bit since I got home. For starters I woke up late. I woke up at 7:15 and had to get everyone out the door by 8:00!. I got everyone dressed, fed, back packs packed and out we went. We got buckled in the car and I backed up only to hear CRUNCH and the kids yelling, "Mom, you ran into dad's truck." What a great way to start the day. I got out to assess the damage. Durango: broken taillight, Chevy: huge dent in the side of truck. Now, this is the third time I have damaged the Durango. I think I need to just park it and stay home. I was too upset to call Jared and tell him so I just waited for his call at work. It finally came, and I felt really bad. He didn't yell at me, he just said he knew it was an accident.

My day at work was crazy and I couldn't wait to get home. When I got home Jared reminded me that I needed to be more careful when I drive. He said he was concerned for mine and the kids safety. So, I guess he is right, I do need to pay more attention and be careful.

I am frustrated because my living room is torn apart still and I am hosting Thanksgiving at our house for the first time I want my house to be nice and cozy. Saturday I was helping Jared with the fireplace remodel and I fell on a pile of wood and bruised up my arm and leg.

Yesterday after church Trenton decided to trim his hair, twice. So I had to finish it up. He kept looking in the mirror saying, " Everyone is going to think I am weird now. Just call me weird head now." I really had to keep from laughing. Poor little guy. I am hoping he learned a lesson from it though.

I bought the DVD Old Yeller for the kids and they have been watching it quite a bit. Trenton decided that Danner needed to come inside (yes,I can't believe I let him in either.) Trent preceded to get him a plate of dog food and water and a special blanket to sleep on. He said it was just too cold for him outside. This is what I found in the kitchen.

One more funny thing. Jared's dad (Papa) shot a little deer and Trenton asked him if he could have the horns. He asked Jared,"Dad, what do you think I should do with my horns, should I tape them to my hat, tape them to my motorcycle, hang them in my room or throw them away." So funny. I am raising a redneck for sure.

I take Emma to the doctor tomorrow. She is almost three and still has difficulty talking. I think she may be tongue tied. So, we are going to get that checked out tomorrow.

I really hope tomorrow is a better day.

Trenty and school

So, Trenton started preschool this year and I am not so sure about it. I decided I would wait a year for Kindergarten and boy am I glad. He is always making up excuses as to why he can't go. One morning he came into the bathroom and sat on the stool while I was taking a shower and said, "Mom, I can't go to school today because my arm hurts, my legs hurt, my tummy hurts, everything just hurts." Nice try. Another day he told his teacher that he wasn't going to be there the next day because he was going to be throwing up. He is getting pretty good at the excuses.

Emma goes with him and every morning she is pushing me out the door telling me to leave. She loves going to "school". My little man just likes to be at home. He really likes to be outside working with his daddy. When he gets home from school I try and ask him about his day and usually get the same response, "I don't remember, or I only learn at school." I hope some things change before next year.

I have been extremely lazy today. I didn't even put makeup on or do my hair. I did shower though. I usually don't have very many days like this, but it is cold outside and I felt like being lazy. I even took a nap with little miss Emma.

Jared is so sweet, he added on some concrete to our patio that I had wanted done. We are also going thru a little remodel project. We are replacing our gas fireplace with a wood stove, and adding a backsplash to the kitchen. This is all suppose to be done before Thanksgiving is hosted at our house. Do you think we are going to make it?

Fall Fun

We have had such a pretty fall. I love all the colors on the changing trees. The only thing I hate is the flies are still here. Hopefully it will freeze soon and they will die. The kids had a good time raking Great Granpas leaves. I don't think they goth them raked up like he likes but they had a good time trying.

We started Halloween by going to the corn maze in Ontario. The second grade got to go for their reading goal. Taiylor had 353%, which was the highest for the second grade. I was one of the chaperones. We started with a hay ride and then ate lunch and then attempted the corn maze. We got lost a few times but it was really fun.

Halloween was fun. I had 2 sweet little witches and a sheriff. We went to the church to go trunk or treating and then we went to Danielle Burrels party. The kids had a really good time playing games and going trick or treating. The kids had candy and more candy for dinner and so by the time we got home they were wired. Not fun for mom and dad.

Trenton and Thor

This is one of Trenton's favorite friends. Most every time I go outside I see Trenton wrestling Thor. He's got him in a choke hold most of the time. Thor takes it on most days. He will growl when he has had enough. Jared and I keep telling him that he better stop before Thor gets mad enough to get back at him. Well today he was in the front yard doing the usual and I heard Thor growl and snap at Trent and then Trenton was crying. I kind of scared me because we have some relatives and friends that have been bitten pretty bad by dogs. He got a good scratch and cut on his jaw. He was actually really lucky it wasn't worse. So we will see if he learned his lesson.

Photo Shoot

I wanted to take some pictures after church today. They aren't the best but they will work.

Big brother and little sister

Trenton is such a good big brother to little Emma. I love to see him looking out for both of his sisters. We were getting ready to go into Savers. I have been finding some awesome deals at the good ol second hand stores. I think of it as finding treasures that I can make into really cool treasures. Trenton is always wanting a new pair of black cowboy boots and every time we go treasure shopping we find a pair for under $5.00. What a steal!

New Sheriff in Town!

This is the new sheriff in town(the Myers' household). He looks pretty tough doesn't he? This is his Halloween costume. He just wanted to try it out for the day.

Build a Bear Day for Taiylor

Taiylor got to go to Build a Bear today for a friend's birthday. Her Uncle Spencer took her to the mall in his big four door, which the kids think is totally awesome. She brought home an adorable puppy that she named Precious. I am glad she got to have such a fun day. She is such a good friend. She asked me today if I thought she was going to be a good mom. I said, "You are going to be wonderful!" I hope I am a good example to her. She is such a cautious, thoughtful girl.

Missing you!

I am sitting here very lonely tonight. It is Friday night and I have no where to go. My sweet husband is hunting with my brother. Don't get me wrong I am very glad he is able to go. He loves to be in the mountains. I just miss him. I don't realize how much I do until he is gone for a few days. I just like his company.

I have been reading various blogs and I have realized I don't capture enough of my childrens funny, sad, mad moments. I need to slow down and enjoy where I am at today. Life goes by too quickly and if I don't stop and take a break I am going to miss my childrens childhood. One day I am going to miss all of the messes all over the house (marker on the wall, pee on the toilet and floor, toys everywhere).

I saw my friends sweet baby boy today and it made me think maybe I do need another little one in the house. Who knows, I guess time will tell.

I am going to try harder to just sit down and play with my sweet children. That is the highlight of their day. I can do it. My goal is to enjoy lifes little moments. Housework and yardwork can wait another day!

New Haircut

Well, I was sick of my hair one day and decided to chop it off. Everyone has been bugging me to see it, so here it is. I don't know if it was a good or bad decision. But the good thing is, hair grows. Have a great day.

Family time

Today we had an easy going Saturday which was kind of nice for a change. Taiylor and I have been redoing her room and she got bunkbeds so we put those together and got her room all situated. I will post pictures later. It turned out really cute. My washing machine died this week so we are in the process of trying to buy a new one. I haven't done laundry in almost a week. It has been nice but when my new washer gets here it is going to have to do overtime.

Jared and the kids and I went out to the farm this evening to check on things. I love it when we are all together. I never imagined that I would live on a farm, especially a dairy, but it is such a good family life. So good for the kids. Trent fed all the calves grain by himself and Taiylor helped her dad throw straw in the calf hutches while Emma and I drove the loader with the straw. It was so funny, those little calves were so excited to get new bedding. They were jumping all over the place. I was watching Taiylor and I could tell she wanted to impress her daddy by helping him. She is such a good girl. All my kids are. I love it that they can be around their dad all day. It is going to be a sad day when Trenton goes to school and isn't following his dad or Papa around. When the vet comes out and Trent isn't with Jared, they ask where he is because he is usually in tow. Today him and Taiylor were playing and I saw him go outside in his swim trunks, cowboy boots and his coonskin hat. I should have gotten a picture.

Emma has her own baby calf that she runs to every day. It is so cute. She also loves going with her daddy. This is so much easier for me to document our life than a traditional journal. So mainly this blog is for me than anyone else. But I am glad others get to share in our life also.

Bubbles

So, I decided I would try harder to document a little bit about Trenton's mischief. The other day I hear Taiylor say,"Oh, no this is bad!" So, I went upstairs to Trent's room, of course, and found that he had dumped half of his soap bottle into his sink and put the plug in. His sink was overflowing with bubbles onto the floor. He had his bubble wand and looked like he was about to have a good time. A friend of mine asked me if I got really mad at him and I told her I didn't. I actually had to keep from laughing. Trent is just a very imaginative, mischievious boy. I have found that I have to pick my battles. We talked about the bubbles and he now knows what will happen when he plugs up his sick with water and bubbles.

Work in Progress

I decided to take some phots of Jared's work on the farm. Right now he is building a maternity shed, which will be so nice for him and the cows! We also got a new loader that the kids think is pretty awesome! Jared has done so many improvements since we have been back on the farm. He really loves what he does.

Motherhood

What is Motherhood? I have been thinking about motherhood lately and have decided that it IS a lot of work. Everything I do every day is for my kids and husband. These last couple of weeks have been especially difficult. Emma was sick with the flu for about a week, and now Taiylor is sick. Taiylor has been sick with a bad virus and stomach pains for 5 1/2 days now. She looks so pitiful. She is having a hard time fighting this one. I have been trying to do everything I can for her and I feel like I can't seem to do enough. From morning till night I am busy cleaning, cooking, chasing kids, cleaning kids, playing with kids, and so on. But you know I wouldn't trade it for anything. Trenton and Emma helped me today with yard work and they were having so much fun. Trenton even helped me clean toilets today. I am usually totally exhausted by the end of the day but it is the sweet moments when your kids tell you they love you that make it worth it.

On another note, my brother Spencer flew over our house today in his Apache helicopter. It was awesome. We were all outside and he flew about 500 ft above us. He is really talented. The kids think he is so cool to be able to fly a helicopter. He said he would fly over our house again, maybe I can get a picture then. We are so glad they are living in Boise again.

I just heard also that my other brother, Josh and his wife are moving to Boise also. I am so excited!

Emma LuJean Myers

Emma is 2 1/2 and so cute. I took these pictures before church. Her hair is getting so long and pretty. She is in love with her daddy. She wants to go with him everywhere. When he gets ready to go out to work, she will stand in front of the door and say, " no, wait." She is pretty much potty trained and loves her horsey panties. She is a very kind, sweet girl. She loves playing with her babies and being a little mommy. If we ever see a baby she is sure to point it out and go say hi to it. She still sucks her thumb and has her BB(her blanket). We love our little Emma.

Cowboys and Cowgirls

The kids had a great time riding Tony and Brownie. Katelyn jumped right on and wasn't scared at all. How cute are they! I love to see cousins having a great time together. Emma thinks she is pretty much in charge of the calves. Her favorite is a little brown jersey. She has to go out and see her baby everyday. She loves going with her daddy on the farm

Trenton's first day of Pre-school

Trenton's first day of pre-school was September 15th. He goes on Mondays and Wednesdays for 9:00-11:30. He was really excited to go. He put on his new school clothes and got his folder and backpack. The other day we were in the car and I said lets practice your numbers and letters, and he told me "Mom, I only learn while I am at school." I guess that is a start getting him interested in learning. What a cute, good boy.

Landscaping projects

I have really been trying to get all of our landscaping projects done this year. They are not done, but I have made a good dent in them. We added curbing to our flower beds as well as rock, which makes it very maintainable. I love being outside doing yardwork. Everyone always teases me because everytime they drive by I am usually outside doing something to the yard. It gives me great satisfaction to look out at my yard and see everything I have done and the trees and shrubs growing.

Fly Control

We had a bit of a fly problem at our house this year. Most of you all know that we live on a dairy farm and one of the downfalls to living on a dairy is the FLYS. A friend of ours gave us a new product for killing flies. So, we were really excited to try it out and try and cut down on the fly problem. So on a Saturday morning Jared and I got out our buckets and brushes and totally scrubbed the entire house. Jared then mixed up the fly mixture and sprayed it on the house. We went to the lake that afternoon and this is what we came home to:

In addition to killing the flies in 30 seconds it is also an attractant. So, for 2 weeks this is what our porch looked like. I would sweep them up and as fast as I was sweeping there was another trail behind me. It was awful. When people would come to the front door, they would here crunching underneath their feet. So, after that two week period was up, we called Treasure Valley Fly Control and they came out and sprayed again, and it has been much better. I guess that is just the joy of living on a farm. I just have to laugh when I look at the pictures.
